Robert S. Mitchell, 94, a resident of Greenwood Village, Colorado, passed away April 14, 2017.

Robert is survived by his daughters, Barbara Kimmins (Rick), Cyndi Wolff (Chuck), and Nancy Dooley (Gene). He is also survived by his four grandchildren, Jason Meyers, Lindsey Wolff, Ryan Wolff, and Daniel Dooley and his great grandson, Jackson Wolff; his brother Clyde Mitchell (Janice); and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of twenty five years, Betty, his siblings, James, Jack and Luella and his parents, Clyde Edward and Mary Maude Mitchell.

First and foremost, Robert loved his family and was a loyal and dear friend to so many. In his younger days he was an avid pilot, loved water skiing and playing the mandolin. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was known as a great storyteller. He was raised in Kingman, Kansas. He served as a proud member of the United States Marine Corps from 1942-1946 as a turret gunner on torpedo planes. In 1949 he moved to Colorado and began his career in construction working for The Denver Drywall Company as a finisher and eventually becoming President and owner of the company until his retirement in 1979. Robert was First Vice President of the International Association of Wall and Ceiling Contractors and the General Drywall Contractors International. He was a member of the Masonic Order and the Elks.

Funeral services will be Thursday, April 27, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Horan and McConaty Funeral Home, 5303 East County Line Road, Centennial, Colorado 80122. A reception will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project in memory of Robert S. Mitchell.
