Funerals in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, sometimes referred to as the LDS Church or Mormon faith, is a community with deep roots in the Denver metro area. For more than three decades, Horan & McConaty has been honored to support Latter-day Saint families with care and respect.
With years of experience and team members who are part of the Church, we recognize the sacred nature of Latter-day Saint funeral traditions and the role they play in helping families grieve and find peace.
Honoring LDS Traditions
We understand that for members of the Church, certain sacred traditions—such as dressing a loved one’s body in temple clothing for the service—hold profound significance. Our staff, some of whom share the faith, are here to offer compassionate support.
Funeral services in the Latter-day Saint tradition often include:
- A viewing held at the funeral home or church the night before the service for family and friends to gather and share memories of the deceased.
- A viewing and family prayer held in the church’s Relief Society Room prior to the service.
- The service itself, under the bishop’s direction and coordinated with the family, will focus on the deceased’s life and the gospel of Jesus Christ.
- Burial service at the graveside followed by a return to the church for a family luncheon.
Our services are designed to honor the individual’s life and the cherished rituals that help families grieve and heal.
Whether you are coping with a recent loss or are planning ahead, we are here to listen, support, and help you navigate the next steps with compassion. Please don’t hesitate to reach out at 303-745-4418 or visit one of our locations for more information.
