William Ranch

William D. Ranch, age 88, of Columbine Valley, Colorado passed away Tuesday July 28, 2020 due to complications from COVID-19 at Swedish Hospital.

Bill was born on February 12, 1932 in Lamar, Colorado, son of Darold and Alice Ranch. He attended North High School in Denver, Colorado, and he was drafted into the U.S. Army shortly after graduation and served during the Korean War.

After the Army, Bill became the first salesman for a small food brokerage company named McFerren, Speakes and Gustafson. He worked his way up and became their 4th partner. The company grew over the years to 400 employees and was the largest food brokerage west of the Mississippi. He retired to the golf course in 1994.

Bill enjoyed playing and watching all sports, including all of his grandsons games, but his favorite was golf. He belonged to Columbine Country Club since 1986. Prior to that, he was a member at Pinehurst Country Club.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents Darold and Alice Ranch, his sister Patty Ranch, and his daughter Tanya Stevens. He is survived by his wife Marilyn Ranch, daughter Tia (Joel) Scott, and his grandsons Andrew and Nicholas.

Bill's Military Honors Service was held August 11th at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado where he is laid to rest.

Memorials received will be distributed to Alzheimer's Association.
