Leigh Pratt passed away in his sleep, at home in Denver, Colorado on January 29, 2018. He was 85 years old. He was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Joan Grabow Pratt.

Leigh had an exciting life as an Air Force pilot and served several tours of duty in Vietnam in the 60’s and 70’s. His plane was shot down in the battle of An Loc, and he received the Purple Heart for his injury, and the Silver Star for valor, when at considerable risk to himself, he went back into the burning airplane to pull out the wounded loadmaster. After a 20 year career, he retired from the military and became a pilot for a Denver travel club. He spent the next years flying club members to exotic locales. He often brought family on these trips, and they all benefited from seeing the world. Leigh’s favorite saying was “If you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life.”

After retiring from flying, Leigh and Joan bought a place in Charbonneau, near Portland, Oregon, where they could be closer to their daughters and grandchildren. This worked out well for everyone and they spent many summers golfing, playing bridge, and enjoying the pool.

Leigh is survived by his daughters, Karen Tabata and Julie Sloss, and by his son Robert Pratt. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. His interment will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver.
