Agnes Victoria (Gilbert) Taff, known as Vicky, was born in Brabant, WV, Sept. 18, 1927, but was raised in Fayetteville, WV. She was the daughter of the late John Thomas and Stella Gilbert. Surviving siblings are Wanda Patrick of Jackson, MI; Rosemary Samsel, Carol Ackison and Michael Gilbert all of Fayetteville, WV. Four siblings preceded her in death - Maxine Haney-Hudler, Dolores Ann Luketina, Vincent Ray and John Thomas, Jr. Gilbert.

Agnes Victoria Gilbert-Taff and Cecil Wayne Taff were married in the First Baptist Church in Washington, D.C., Feb. 28, 1948. Being a military wife of a Chief Petty Officer, they were assigned to various stations overseas. Vicky led an interesting life working for the Government in Washington, D.C., Yokohama, Japan and the Officer’s Club in the Philippines. She attended courses at the School of Cryptology in Washington, D.C. She took many self-enrichment courses and took some college courses.

She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross at Ft. Meade, MD; ten years in the American Cancer Society Reach-To-Recovery Program in St. Joseph, MO, and Aurora, CO; a Charter member and past president of the Fleet Reserve Association, Unit 212. Vicky was actively involved in the Christian Women’s Connection since 1975 in St. Joseph, MO and in Aurora, CO. Vicky was creative and enjoyed painting (acrylics and charcoal), and writing poetry. She had one prize-winning poem published, “WHY ME LORD?” She was an active member of Faith Presbyterian Church for about 25 years.

Surviving are three daughters, Vicki Lynn Shigley (Maynard), Diane Karen McCune-Cox (Randy) and Barbara Gail Wrathall (Clyde). Nine grandchildren; Wayne and Brandi Shigley; Bryon and Patrick McCune; Meghan Wrathall-Biss (David), Matthew, Michael (Samantha) and Mark Wrathall, one step-grandson, Jameson Cox (Courtney); two great grandsons, Silas Ezra McCune and Charles William Biss. Two great granddaughters, Clara Victoria Biss, and Annabelle Gail Wrathall. Two step-grandchildren, Addison Cox and Lincoln Cox. Three wonderful sons-in-law’s (Maynard, Clyde and Randy), and deceased son-in-law, Mark McCune.

Vicky would like to be remembered as loving Jesus, a devoted wife and Mother and as a caring person to humanity. STAY STRONG IN YOUR LOVE FOR JESUS AND BE A BLESSING TO OTHERS is her request.
