Mona Blandford

Mona Faye Blandford nee Knox was born on March 7, 1932, in Oak Creek Colorado to Lula May and James Franklin Knox. She grew up and went through school in Oak Creek graduating valedictorian of her class in 1950.

On December 30, 1950, she and Robert Carl Blandford were married in the Methodist Church at Oak Creek, Colorado.

Two sons William Leonard and Lawrence Allen blessed the family. Robert (Bob) died on Thanksgiving morning in 2004 1 month and 6 days before their 54th anniversary. Preceding her in death besides Bob were her mother and her stepfather who raised her and her father and stepmother.

She was the youngest of five children by several years. Her siblings were brother Melvin Knox and sisters Nina Knox Wadkins, Norma Knox Dickerson, and Frankie Jean Knox. They and their spouses preceded her in death.

Sons William (Marcia) and Lawrence (Lisa) survive her. Being the youngest, Mona grew up with her seven nieces and nephews. Melvin’s children Audrey (Wayne)Herman Ivan (Yvonne) Knox and James (Joan) Knox. Nina’s children Lula May Morgan (Sam) and Danny Castor: Norma’s children Patricia (Richard)Lane and Patricia (Herb) Chontos. Audrey, James and Patricia and their spouses survive her.

Seven grandchildren survive, Billy, Shane(Katie), Christopher, Robert (Susie), Tonya (Ron), Jessica (Ryan) along with twenty-five great-grandchildren.

Mona will be laid to rest with her beloved husband, Bob, on Saturday, February 15th at 10:00am at Crown Hill Cemetery in Wheat Ridge, CO (7777 W. 29th Ave). Celebration of her life to also be held on Saturday, February 15th at 11:00am at St James Episcopal Church in Wheat Ridge, Colorado (8235 W. 44th Ave).
