Miroslav Supitar

Miroslav Supitar of Littleton, Colorado passed away, Thursday March 7, 2019 at Swedish Hospital. He was 78 years old.

Miro was born March 13, 1940 to Jaroslav and Marie Supitar in Praha, Czeckslovakia. A couple of years later, sister Hana joined the family. Miro grew up and graduated from Pisek schools. Miro served 2 years in the Czech armed services before attending and graduating from Ceske Vysoke Uneni Technicke with a masters in Engineering in 1967. After graduation he married his sweetheart Anna and worked for the city of Praha. In 1969, shortly after the Russian invasion, Miro and Anna with baby Martin moved to the US where they settled in Juliet, Illinois. Miro continued his education by attending and graduating with a masters in Civil Engineering specializing in transportation in 1980 from Illinois Institute of Technology. His Traffic Signal synchronization for Arterial Streets can be found on the web today.

Miro and family, that now included son Michael moved to Denver, Colorado where Miro worked as Senior Engineer for Centennial Engineering. Later Miro worked for Taubman Company as well as Traffic Control Company.

Miro loved to travel, loved his family and loved being a traffic engineer. He was active in several traffic organization and earned his PE license.

He had many accomplishments:

He was a member of ITE Institute of Traffic Engineers and the National Transportation Safety Advisory board.

1985 won the Engineering Excellence award by Econolite Control Products, Inc.

1991 paper Current use of Cable TV and Fiber Optics for Traffic was published in April 1992 ITE Journal.

He was an expert witness for railroad crossings on several law suit cases.

Miro is survived by his wife, Karon; sons, Martin Supitar, Michael (Erin) as well as many loving extended family members and friends at the Life Care Center of Littleton.

A Celebration of Life will be held 3:00pm on Friday, April 26, 2019 at Horan & McConaty located at 3101 South Wadsworth Boulevard, Lakewood, Colorado.
