Xiong, Mai Yang

March 3, 1934 – December 20, 2020

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Mai Yang Xiong, age of 86, passed on to be with Jesus Christ on Sunday afternoon December 20,2020 at North Suburban Hospital due to complication of breathing and COVID-19.

She was born on March 3, 1934 in Green Lake, Bolikhamxay Laos, a daughter of Xaiv Tshob Xiong and Mai Vang. She was happily married to Nkaj Zeb Vang and had one son and three daughters: Tshua Ntxaij, Mos, Mai Cib, and Blia. After the passing of her late husband, Mai Yang was remarried into the Lee family of Fai Dang Lee where they had three sons and one daughter: Chong Neng, Paj Txong, Nhia Teng and Der. Mai Yang is survived by her four sons, four daughters and 52 grandchildren. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

Mai Yang dedicated most of her time watching her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. During her free time, she loved reading the bible, sharing the gospel to her family and friends, gardening and teaching her children how to stitch traditional Hmong embroidery. Mai was a kind loving person with a big heart. She was an amazing mentor, devoted mother and at the very least, the best grandmother. Her life wasn’t always easy but she lived every day counting her blessings.
