Wendy Douglas

March 14, 1957 — November 17, 2021

Our beautiful angel Wendy G. Douglas of Flagler, Colorado has passed away at the tender young age of 64. Wendy left this world on November 17, 2021 at The Medical Center of Aurora, where she had been since November 8, 2021. Cause of death is most likely related to long-term effects of Covid, which kicked her butt in 2020.

Wendy was born in Santa Ana, California on March 14, 1957 to Stanley Dean and Elsie Grace Allen. She spent the first 10 years of her life dealing with severe asthma before coming to live at National Jewish Hospital in Denver, Colorado. The family eventually joined her in Colorado and Wendy and her five siblings enjoyed mountain picnics, camping and fishing whenever possible. Although her asthma continued to be problematic at times, she seldom complained and was always laughing and joking with her family and friends. Wendy also had a special love for her little toy poodle Sugar who followed her everywhere.

While working at a Pizza Hut in the late 70’s, Wendy met and eventually married Gary E. Douglas, a Texas native who had moved to Colorado in 1976. They raised two boys and in 2015, the couple bought a wonderful home and moved out to the peaceful agricultural town of Flagler, Colorado. Wendy loved the calm, tranquil environment of her new community. She especially loved working in her garden and loving on her three dogs, Abbie, Raffi, and Jake. The true joy of Wendy’s life the past several years was her grandson Elliott. She spent time with him whenever possible and spoiled him in a special way that he will always remember.

Although both her parents are deceased, Wendy is survived by her husband Gary Elliott Douglas of Flagler, Colorado; her two sons Stephen [Kelsey] Douglas of Flagler, Colorado and Michael [Valerie] Lambert of Moncks Corner, South Carolina; brothers Mark [Andrea] Allen of Queen Creek, Arizona, Thomas Allen [whereabouts unknown], Christopher [Kathy Stewart] Allen of Castro Valley, California, Scott Allen and sister Laurie Allen, both of Aurora, Colorado. Wendy also left behind her adoring grandson Elliott Charles Douglas of Flagler, Colorado and many loving nieces and nephews.

Wendy Grace Douglas lived her life true to her middle name. She was blessed with a special light that surrounded her even in the hardest of times. She is already missed beyond measure by those who knew and loved her.
