Walter "Wally" Scharringhausen

April 24, 1933 — June 9, 2021

Walter “Wally” Allen Scharringhausen, 88, of Aurora, Colorado passed away at his home In accordance with his wishes on June 9, 2021.  He was born to Walter W. Scharringhausen and Meta C. Botterman Scharringhausen at his home in Mount Prospect, Illinois on April 24, 1933.

Following high school Wally joined the Coast Guard and met the love of his life, Sandra Moon Scharringhausen.  Near the end of his 4 years in the Coast Guard, they were married on February 10, 1956. After moving his new bride to his home in Illinois, they had three children, Valerie, Julie, and Rich.  His career as truck driver moved him forward in life.

Wally and Sandy followed their girls to Colorado in 1990 and became members of All Saints Lutheran Church. They thoroughly enjoyed their church community.

He was a member of the National Rifle Association and enjoyed bowling, shooting, leather work, and wood working.  Wally was well liked and respected by everyone he met.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Richard Scharringhausen.  Walter is survived by his daughters, Valerie Nielsen, Julie and her husband Allan McIntosh; grandchildren, Logan M. McIntosh, Kyle K. McIntosh, and Erik E. Nielsen.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 25, 2021 at 1pm at All Saints Lutheran Church located at 15625 E. Iliff Avenue, Aurora CO, 80013 with a light lunch to follow. Information concerning Covid restrictions coming soon.

The family requests donations in Wally’s memory be sent to All Saints Lutheran Church.  See below for details.
