Timothy Allen Fitzpatrick
September 16, 1950-October 14, 2020
Tim's journey began on September 16, 1950 in Boulder, CO, as a proud Irishman. He attended Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic School and was an alter boy before earning a scholarship to Regis High School in Denver. Tim graduated from Sequoia High School in Redwood City, CA and received an AA Degree from the College of San Mateo, CA. He returned to his birthplace and completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Colorado in Boulder.
A 41 year career at DuPont ensued upon graduation which took Tim all over the world. He would travel up to twice monthly but his greatest adventure was living in Holland for five years, which provided even more opportunity to explore Europe and over 20 other countries.
On December 31, 2014, Timothy A. Fitzpatrick, Senior Account Manager - Chemical Solutions, elected to retire after 41 years of dedicated service. Tim began his career at the New Johnsonville, TN plant as an engineer in the White Pigments Department. Early in his career, he held various manufacturing, sales and technical roles at Edgemore, Wilmington, Deer Park, TX and Niagara Falls, NY. Following a 5 year Technical Supervisor assignment at the Dordrecht, Netherlands plant, Tim relocated to Colorado in the Cyanide business in 1989. From 1996 to 2000, Tim worked in the Conoco Lubes business and the Augment (Newmont/ DuPont) joint venture. Since returning to the Cyanide business in 2000, Tim has contributed significantly to developing a secure, contracted, Cyanide customer base. During his career, Tim received a US Patent, two Corporate Marketing Excellence Awards and a Business Excellence Award, as well as numerous other awards in recognition for his contributions in sales and business excellence. In addition, he sponsored the Environmental Leadership Award.
Due to fortunate circumstances, Tim was able to settle down in Lakewood, CO after returning from Europe. There the exploration didn’t stop with many visits to National Parks, major cities and later on a return to Europe to see more of France, England, Spain, Germany, the Czech Republic, Hungary as well as Russia, China, Japan, Australia, Brazil, Argentina and 49 US states.
Tim is survived by his wife, Marlene and daughter, Jackie, to whom he gave every free moment he had making memories. They spent copious amounts of time appreciating the outdoors, having a nice meal, attending professional sports or just enjoying life’s little daily adventures together.
We love you and will miss you forever.
