Samuel Harry

1958 — January 1, 2023

Foxfield

Samuel Paul Harry, age 64 of Foxfield, Colorado transitioned to his heavenly home January 17, 2023, after a courageous battle with neuroendocrine cancer. He left this world peacefully surrounded by family and friends.

Sam was born in Sterling, Kansas to Gilbert and Marilyn Harry. His family relocated to Oakvale, West Virginia when he was five years old.  Sam spoke with great fondness of his childhood, growing up in a small town with his siblings and extended family. After being a standout basketball player at Oakvale High School, Sam attended Concord College, receiving a bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Sam was a member of the fraternity Alpha Sigma Phi with whom he kept in touch until his passing.  He received a Master of Business Administration degree from Troy State University and became a certified public accountant.  Sam joined the United States Navy in 1985 and retired as a Commander after proudly serving his country for 20 years. During his distinguished career, he also worked for Radiology Imaging Associates and Donor Alliance as their Chief Financial Officer.

The simplest pleasures in life gave Sam great joy. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, hanging with his family and friends and attending Highpoint Church, especially his small group at church from which he made life-long friends, as well as his Christian men’s small group which met for breakfast every Wednesday for years. Sam also loved planning surprise anniversary trips for Deb each year and could keep a secret better than anyone!

Sam always spoke of his family as his greatest achievement.  He married the love of his life, Deb in 1980 and together they had two sons, Nathan and Jared. Sam was a loving husband, dad, father-in-law to Stephani and Lauren and the best “paw paw” ever to Elias, Beckham, Noah, and Rory.

Sam is also survived by his mother, Marilyn, sisters Joni, Caren and her husband Ed and brother Jim; mother-in-law, Margaret, sister–in-law Susan and her husband Jim, brothers-in-law, Terry and Ed, and sister-in-law Diane.  He also had nieces and nephews that he loved dearly! Sam was preceded in death by his father Gib Harry, fathers-in-law B.H. Barrett and Leon Musick, sister-in-law, Brenda Harry and brother-in-law, Bert Barrett.

Sam’s favorite Bible verse was Psalms 62:1, “Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from Him.” He was a true example of living God’s promise.  Sam’s mild manner and loving heart were only overshadowed by the amazing impact he had on all who were privileged to know him.

A celebration of life will be held at Highpoint Church in Aurora Colorado on February 11, 2023 at 10:30 AM.  All are welcome to attend! Details can be found below.
