Ruth Liggett

January 6, 1947 — March 10, 2023

Arvada, Colorado

Ruth Eilene Parsons Liggett was born in Clay Center, Kansas to her late parents, Stanley Paul Parsons and Dorothy May McCartney Parsons. Ruth passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early morning on March 10, 2023. Preceded in death by her sister Marilyn May Sullivan (Randy) and daughter Tammy Marie Liggett. Survived by husband Melvin Rodney Liggett, sister Geniveve Marie Gallegos, brothers Jay Howard Parsons (Vickie) and Merlin Roy Parsons, daughter Sheila Ann Carter (Brett), son Scott Allan Liggett (Sandy), 9 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren with 1 more due in September.

Ruth was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in church callings, including Stake Family History Consultant at the Arvada Colorado Family History Center for over 25 years. Ruth also had a passion for doing her own family history work and dedicated many years of her life researching her ancestors. She shared her testimony regularly with her children and grandchildren. Ruth loved going to the temple, reading the scriptures and other church related books, writing in her journals, watching church videos, and learning everything she could about the gospel.

After high school, Ruth met and married the man of her dreams while they were both working at Walgreens. She then fulfilled her dream of becoming a mother and raising a family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Ruth’s hobbies included making quilts, cards, and scrapbooks, painting, embroidery, and sewing. She made clothes for herself, her children, and grandchildren, and often made matching shirts for her husband and son, and matching dresses for her granddaughters. Ruth always loved wearing floral pattern shirts with colorful pants to match. She also liked to go to craft stores. After raising her children, Ruth went to work at Cloth World, where she met some dear friends. They would get together to have weekly craft days and took several trips together.

Ruth loved the California beaches. She didn’t like to go in the water, but she loved to walk on the shore searching for shells, watching the ships come in, and sitting on the hotel balcony watching the people, waves, and sunsets. She loved sitting on her deck at home surrounded by all her pretty flowers. Ruth loved spending her summers in Estes Park with her family.

Ruth was happiest when she was with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved going on dates with them, talking and texting with them regularly, playing cards (Rummy), and attending many of their events and activities. Ruth was loving, caring, kind, patient, a good listener, and always willing to help others. She will truly be missed.
