Rosalie Ruybal

June 14, 1939 — January 11, 2022

Cañon, Colorado

Rosalie Marjorie Ruybal was a caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world courageously fighting pancreatic cancer on January 11, 2022 at the age of 82. She was born in Cañon, Colorado June 14, 1939, and was preceded in death by her parents, Amos and Beatrice Abeyta.

After attending Adams State College, she married the love of her life Benito “Tony” Ruybal on April 10, 1961 and moved to Denver where they resided for more than 60 years in the same house. Together they had four children who survive: Cynthia Ruybal (Paul Sandoval), Ray Anthony Ruybal (Sandy McClur), Suzanne Brown (Mark Brown) and Stuart Ruybal (Amy Ruybal). She is also survived by her grandchildren: Lucas (Jessika), Dominic (Gabrielle), Greyson, Sienna, Ray Anthony, Justin, Raeana, Stephan, Shaylee and Fayth; great-grandchildren: Izaac and Ethan; and siblings: Alfonzo Abeyta, Ruben Abeyta, Richard Abeyta, Patsy Mestas, Roger Abeyta and Mardella Abeyta.

Rosalie loved education, especially math, and continued to learn throughout her life. She took classes and worked at Metropolitan State College and finished her career at H & R Block preparing taxes. Prior to her favorite two employments, she worked with finances at the bank and during the years she raised her young children she cleaned houses to make ends meet.

Rosalie was so loving and caring that she never put herself first. Family was the center of her life, and she was most happy when she spent time with her family. She was strict, but she knew she had to teach us to be tough. She made sure all her children had their independence with education and hard work. Being a grandma was the most precious gift in her life and her grandchildren brought her the most joy. Grandma’s house was sacred to all of her grandchildren with so many memories created there.

One of her favorite past times was to call anyone who had a birthday and sing. She would say, “I don’t care if I can’t sing, I will sing Happy Birthday to you”. She did this with a smile and we couldn’t wait to get the phone call. Rosalie was always concerned that you were fed. Mom’s life was the caretaker not only to her children, but for everyone that passed through her door. She spent endless hours making delicious food and baking desserts.

When Rosalie wasn’t in her kitchen cooking, she was watching sports or attending her grandchildren’s sports and activities. She loved all the Colorado professional teams. She especially liked watching the Nuggets with my dad. There was no more joy to her than attending her grandchildren's activities from sports, dance, music, or any school activity.

Mom loved her flowers and she loved tending to them outside. She loved receiving flowers and she loved giving them. She didn’t really like to listen to music, but she loved to dance. Wherever there was a dance floor there was mom dancing. She had a great sense of humor and enjoyed making all of us laugh, even to her last breath.
