Obituary

Robert “Bob” Lee Holifield was born on December 21, 1946 in Denver, Colorado. He passed away peacefully at his home in Thornton, Colorado on January 17th, 2023 at the age of 76. He was the son of Julius Ernest Holifield and Ida Ruth (Lietzke) Holifield.

Bob went on to join the Navy on January 27, 1964 at the age of 17. He went to boot camp in San Diego followed by diesel mechanics school in Chicago. Once he completed mechanics school his first ship commission was a freighter that needed to be taken to Pearl Harbor for repairs. From there he was sent to patrol the South China Sea on the USS rogers. He received the National Defense Service Medal and a Vietnam Service Medal. He was honorably discharged on December 15, 1967.

He was united in marriage with Violet Sue Suggs on December 28, 1968. They were blessed with three children, Georgetta, Carol, and Robert Jr. They enjoyed 54 years of marriage and were still together at the time of his passing.

He worked in the telecommunications industry for 31 years, where he started as a night mechanic repairing company vehicles. He worked hard and worked through the ranks until he ended up as Contract Work Inspector, a role he was in until he retired. He did continue to work during his retirement, with several different positions with TSA, RTD and CASI.

Bob loved his family and took great pride in the accomplishments of them all. He enjoyed going camping and fishing. He loved gardening and was a die-hard Broncos fan.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and sister Peggy DeMayola.

He was a loving Brother, Son, Father, Grandpa and Great Grandpa. He is survived by his loving wife, Violet Sue (Suggs) Holifield; children, Georgetta (Holifield) Smith, Carol (Holifield) Kuntz, Robert Holifield Jr., Kevin Smith, Tony Kuntz, Tia Holifield; his grandkids, Michael Smith, Joshua Smith, Suzie (Kuntz) Pena, Danyelle (Kuntz) Addis, AJ Kuntz, Bobbi Jo Kuntz, Bo Holifield, McKenna Holifield, Chris Pena, Trevor Addis, Shelby (Burrow) Kuntz; great grandkids, Chloe Pena, Charli Pena, Aubry Kuntz, Violet Kuntz, Olivia Addis; siblings, Sally (Holifield) Shepard, Michael Holifield, Barb (Holifield) Small; numerous nieces and nephews, and finally Brandy, his Best Friend, beloved, and SPOILED Jack Russell Terrier!

A Memorial Service will be held at 10am on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at Horan & McConaty, 9998 Grant St.. Thornton, Colorado.

A Committal Service with military honors will be held at 2:30pm on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at Fort Logan National Cemetery, staging area "B".
