Richard "Jake" Jacob

March 16, 1946 — October 7, 2021


Richard was born and raised on a farm in Bloomfield, Nebraska. He graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1964. Jake served in the United States Army in the Vietnam war. After the war he purchased a 1968 Pontiac GTO.  Jake served two years of trade school in Lincoln, Nebraska. After school he worked as a journeyman electrician. He moved to Colorado in 1979. After moving to Colorado he went to work for Cryovac, living in the Green Mountain area, and retired in 2012 after 33 years. Jake was a member of the Electricians Union, and a faithful member of The Lutheran Church of the Master. His passions were family, skiing in Vail, motorcycle rides, traveling, bicycle trips. Jake's true love was his grandchildren and great nephews and attending their school events, sporting events and games. He was a great advocate and supporter of Autism. He is survived by children Jason (Natalie) Mielenz, Jill (Jeff) Handley; grandchildren Max, Maverick, Sydney, Sam, Knox; niece Sherri (Brad) Berg; great-nephews Tyler, Braden, Codey; and friends, including Terrie Adams, John and Franki Behnke, Linda Redden, Steve and Abby Smith, Bob and Susie Abramson, Bill Stordahl and many more. Jake was preceded in death by parents; brother-in-law Dean McCallum; sister Dorothy McCallum. Celebration of Life, Thursday, October, 21, 2021, 2:00 pm, Horan & McConaty, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd., Lakewood, CO 80227. In lieu of flowers donations in Jake's name to Children's Hospital, Wounded Warrior Project or Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
