Richard Fredrick McDonald, age 73, died in his home in Thornton, Colorado on April 9th 2021. Richard worked at Vollmer’s Bakery for 7 years and then in 1971, he started working for King Soopers Bakery, where he worked for the next 38 years.

He married his wife Carol on November 20th 1970 and they recently celebrated their 50th Anniversary.

Richard is survived by his wife, Carol, their daughter, Brenda (Chris), their son, Mark (Molly), four grandchildren, Xavier, Tiffany, Maleah, & Braeden, and one great grandchild Nya. He is also survived by several siblings, Mary Ziegler, Roger McDonald, Barbra Kramer, Maureen Ellsworth, and Karen Wadley.

He was preceded in death by his parents Harold & Mary and siblings:  Joe McDonald, Charles McDonald, Timothy McDonald, Michael McDonald, and Cindy Aoyagi.

Richard was devoted to his family and had a strong work ethic. He spent his life dedicated to his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchild. He was a history buff and loved to travel. He spent his younger years showing his children the history of the United States by road tripping around the country in a camper and an RV to places like Washington D.C. to see the historical Monuments. During these trips he always made sure to add some fun with amusement parks and treated his kids to several trips to  Disney World. In his later years he repeated some of these same trips with his grandchildren and continued to enjoy traveling to more far away and exotic destinations with his wife and adult children. When not on these trips he enjoyed fishing, skiing, reading, attending the performing arts and camping.

He was greatly loved and will be dearly missed by all that knew him.

Please share you memories of Richard and condolences with his family in the Tribute Wall.
