Ray Lapierre

August 29, 1972 — May 9, 2022

Ray Joseph Lapierre, age 49, passed away on May 9th, 2022.

Ray graduated in 1990 from Torrington High School in Torrington, Connecticut. He then went on to join the United States Navy and became a PNSA Petty Officer on the USS Constellation stationed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He chose to leave the Navy and move to Colorado with his former wife Stacey where they raised their two sons, Tyler and Joshua.

Ray grew up working in construction with his dad. He was swinging a hammer and hanging shingles by the age of 5, so it was only natural for him to follow that path. He wanted to support his family so he got a stable job in home remodeling.  After a number of years he earned his contractors license and never left the industry except for a short stint in truck driving.

Then in 2016, he married the love of his life, Amanda, in beautiful upstate New York surrounded by family. They bought a new home together in 2019 and moved to Firestone, Colorado where they enjoyed spending time with their neighbors, soaking in their hot tub, and working on home improvement projects.

Ray was an outdoorsman and handyman. He loved camping, fishing, and hunting. He could fix anything and was a talented woodworker. He showed his impeccable taste through his collection of guns and watches. He was everybody’s friend. He loved to tell stories and offer advice wherever he could. He was a devoted husband and father. There was nothing more important to him than family. He was a giant teddy bear with the biggest heart. It didn’t matter who you were, he was a hugger. He was selfless and kind and put everyone else’s wants before his own.

Ray is survived by his wife Amanda, his two sons Tyler and Joshua, his step-daughters Hannah and Emily, his mother Wendy, and his younger brother Scott. He was preceded in death by his father Réal.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date yet to be determined. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please consider donating in Rays name to The Kempe Foundation, a leader in the prevention and treatment of child abuse and neglect, a cause Ray was passionate about.
