Nathan Luby

June 6, 1977 — July 24, 2020

Nathan Lowry Luby was born on June 6, 1977 to Patricia Ann and James Lowry Luby at Lutheran Hospital in Wheatridge, CO. Nathan is an only child but spent his early years with his large extended family of 5 aunts, 7 uncles, numerous cousins, and step-parents Patricia Toohey and Leslie Miller. Nathan grew up in Parker since the age of 10 and graduated from Ponderosa High School in 1995. Nathan is preceded in death by his father (Pops) James.

In 2003 Nathan met his future wife, Kristina Sahagun, while at a birthday party for a friend at Dave and Busters in Denver. In December 2005 Nathan got down on one knee and proposed, they were married 3 years later on September 21, 2008. Nathan and Kristina welcomed their first daughter Annabelle Lowry in July 2007, followed by daughter A’yah Lily in April 2009, son Jacob Emilio in May 2012, and daughter Harper Elizabeth in November 2013. Nathan is preceded in death by his daughters Annabelle and A’yah.

Nathan loved to spend time with his family and could often be found hanging out at the home of his in-laws, George and Rebecca Sahagun, having BBQs and weekend dinners. Because Nathan was an only child  he loved spending time with his sister-in-law, Jacqueline Sahagun, nieces Natalie Paige and Ava Estelle; brother-in-law Matthew Sahagun, nephew William Matthew; brother-in-law Thomas Sahagun, wife Krista Sahagun, nephew Anthony Thomas and niece Peyton Grace. Nathan is preceded in death by his father-in-law George.

When not spending time with his family, he could be found cheering on his beloved Broncos (even in their losing seasons) or watching a Rockies game. Nathan loved camping and fishing, going golfing and playing around on his guitar. He loved to read and was often found with a Clive Cussler novel in his possession.

The best part of Nate’s life was being a father and loving on his children. Nate loved to take the kids to the park, the zoo, or even Chuck E. Cheese. He would spend hours playing Play Doh, painting, and drawing with them. He could easily be found throwing spirals and curve balls, riding his own skateboard at the skate park with Jacob, and playing barbies and getting his nails and make-up done by Harper. Nate and Kristina loved to travel and could often be found exploring a new city or sitting on a beach in Mexico with their children.

Nathan spent his youth working at Wendy’s, then Taco Bell (just so he could make an enchirito “his way”), and retail with his friends from high school. He worked at Budget Pest Control while attending Metropolitan State University of Denver and earning his bachelor’s degree. After graduating in 2007 Nathan worked at Time Warner Cable before moving to DirecTV in 2011. For the past 9 years Nathan work in various departments throughout the company and currently worked in the Field Operations division. Nate enjoyed his work and made lots of great memories. He loved dressing up for the Halloween contest, making his salsa for a potluck, and would often recount the story of going out after work with his co-worker to meet one of his favorite bands of all time, The Epilogues. Nathan enjoyed his job and valued the friendships he made at DirecTV.

Nathan moved from this world to the next on Friday, July 24, 2020. He is now with all his friends and family who moved on before him. We imagine him holding his baby girls and bring love and friendship to all he knew in this life who are now in the next. His family is heart-broken, but we know we will get through this time because of all the love he gave us while he was here.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at Horan and McConaty at 2:00 PM, 5303 E. County Line Road, Centennial, CO 80122. Following the service, his family will continue his celebration of life with light refreshments at the Hilton Denver Inverness, 200 Inverness Drive West, Englewood, CO 80112 from 3:30-5:45.
