Lorraine Gregg

August 30, 1933 — May 6, 2022

Greenwood Village

Lorraine Eileen Gregg, loving mother, and grandmother, passed away on May 6, 2022, at the age of 88.

She was born to John and Marie Hills on August 30, 1933, in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.

After high school, Lorraine moved with her sister, Muriel, to Milwaukee, Wisconsin and then on to Denver, Colorado where she met her husband, Philip Gregg.  Together they had two daughters, Jill and Jennifer before his sudden death in July 1977.

Lorraine was now faced with the daunting task of raising her young children alone. She rose to the challenge with steadfast determination, working as a legal assistant for many years until her retirement in the early 2000s. She put both of her daughters through college and remained fiercely independent.

Lorraine enjoyed playing golf and bridge with her many friends. She loved the mountains and took long hikes whenever she could.  She and her beloved dog, Cember also enjoyed many walks along the Highline Canal. Once her children left the nest, she became a world traveler, visiting Europe, China, and South America with her more adventurous friends. She adored her grandchildren and would boast about them to whoever would listen.  To her, family was everything. She was an avid Bronco fan, but never forgot to support her first home team, the Green Bay Packers.  After retirement, she enjoyed volunteering at her church. She loved music and could often be heard humming a tune as she went about her day.  She had a funny, quick wit and spoke her mind whether it was popular or not.

Lorraine is survived by her daughter, Jill (Emir) and Jennifer (Tim); stepson John (Becky); five grandchildren, Anna-Christina, Elizabeth, Gabriella, Jason, and Rachel; four step-grandchildren, Mariah, Kelli, Kayla, and Hayley; brother-in-law Dennis, sister-in-law, Kay (Leslie), and a host of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, her sister, Muriel; brothers-in-law Frank and Wally, sisters-in-law Virginia and Joyce; and her stepson, Paul (survived by Leanne).

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 5th at 2 p.m. at her church, Trinity United Methodist Church, 1820 Broadway, Denver, CO 80202. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the ASPCA, the March of Dimes, or to the Jacob “Jake” Gregg Memorial MBI Endowment, c/o Northern Vermont University, Lyndon, Lyndonville, VT 05851
