1939 ~ 2020 (age 81)


Leon Simpson, Jr., age 81, passed away at The Denver Hospice in Denver, Colorado on July 27, 2020. His wife of 46 years of marriage, daughter & son-in-law were in his presence as he passed to go home to the Lord.

Born to Leon Simpson, Sr. & Mary Simpson in Yazoo City, Mississippi in 1939.They made their way to Chicago, Illinois where he was raised until Leon made his way west in 1975 to Colorado to start a new life.

He worked 25 years before retiring from the Coors Brewery Company. Leon served our country and was a member of the United States Army for 2 years and was a Masonic member. An avid lover of all sports, he loved watching and going to games in his spare time. Anyone who would listen Dad loved to talk about history. A lover of “oldies” music, Motown and classic soul, you would hear these tunes playing often in the house. Working on crossword puzzles would peak his interest and he was great word sleuth at working them.

He is survived by his wife Delois of Aurora, Colorado daughter Lashawn of Aurora, Colorado (spouse Jack), son Shane of Chicago, Illinois, Brothers Jerome, Mylon, Earl (deceased), Eugene (deceased), sisters Mattie, Marguerite, Tahira (deceased), Daughter Linda, Antioch, CA, Daughter Karen, Aurora,CO and several grand and great-grand children and friends of the family.

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic Leon's service will be a private family gathering. Leon will be laid to rest following the memorial service with an Interment at Ft. Logan National Cemetery. Please respect the family wishes to forgo a reception afterwards. His family wishes to thank everyone for their sympathy & kind words during this difficult time.
