Leisa Miller

Leisa Kay Miller, 65, passed away on November 16, 2022 in Parker, Colorado with her family by her side. She was born on September 14, 1957 in Louisiana, Missouri to Gloria and James Kirk.

Leisa is survived by her husband of 41 years, Kendall Miller, and their four children, Lauren and Edward Wade of San Diego, California, Kristin and Cesar Calderon of Aurora, Colorado, Ryan and Megan Miller of Loveland, Colorado, and Lindsey Miller and Taylor Doying of Aurora, Colorado. She is also survived by her brother, Stephen Kirk of Goodyear, Arizona, her sister, Linda Ryan of Springfield, Missouri, three grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Leisa was preceded in death by her parents, Gloria and James Kirk.

Leisa graduated from Mexico High School in 1976. After high school, she attended the University of Missouri and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1980. After undergraduate studies, she married Kendall Miller, and they moved to Flagstaff, Arizona. She attended the University of Northern Arizona and graduated with a Master of Arts in Education in 1983. After graduate school, Leisa and Ken moved from Arizona to Maryland. In 1985 they moved to Colorado. Leisa worked as an elementary school teacher for 30 years in various school districts. For many years, her passion was educating children about wildlife and the environment. Leisa was also a homemaker for her four children.

Leisa was a devoted wife, loving mother, and proud grandmother to her grandchildren, William, Luna, and Brennon. She enjoyed traveling, cooking and baking for her family, and supporting her children. Some of her favorite places were Steamboat Springs, Hawaii, France, Spain, and Switzerland. Leisa invested all of her time in supporting her children’s education and social growth through their college years, especially their reading and writing skills.

A celebration of Leisa’s life will be held on Tuesday, November 29 at Horan & McConaty in Centennial, Colorado, which will be followed by a graveside service at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Castle Rock, Colorado.

Memorial donations may be sent in her name to Colorado Palliative and Hospice Care.
