Lee Forker

Lee W. Forker, an active and youthful man of 89 years, from Westminster, CO passed away early in the morning of Friday, Dec 24, 2021, from Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Lee was a loving, funny and caring father, grandfather, uncle and friend. Born in Long Beach,  he spent his early years in California and later, during his middle school years, moved to Loveland Colorado with his mother.  Lee graduated from Loveland High School in 1950 and from the University of Colorado Boulder in 1954 as a major in Electrical Engineering, while participating on the CU Men’s Gymnastics team. With the opportunity to join the Sperry Corporation in the Defense industry, Lee moved to Long Island, NY, and specialized in the area of microwaves and radar design for US military contracts. He was employed by Sperry for his entire 40-year career.  While in NY, he married Gail Henry (of Great Neck) in 1960.  They were married until her passing in 2017, of complications from a stroke.

Lee & Gail raised their 3 children in Huntington, NY and later retired to Colorado in 1998.  Lee’s hobbies included playing bridge, road bicycling, “tinkering” with Alfa Romeo sports cars, square dancing, reading mystery novels and working on crossword puzzles.

Lee is survived by his 3 children: Paige (Jim) Burkeholder of Denver, CO, Douglas Forker of Indianapolis, IN and Melissa (John) Terc of Greenlawn, NY and 4 grandchildren: Sarah & Emily Burkeholder and Douglas & Rebecca Terc – along with numerous nieces and nephews and several close longtime friends and neighbors.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 11, 2022 at 2:00pm at Horan & McConaty, 7577 W 80th Ave, Arvada, CO 80003. Donations in Lee’s memory may be made to:  University of Colorado Forever Buffs Scholarship Fund (Engineering), 1800 Grant St, Suite 725, Denver, CO 80203.
