Larry Allen Brown, age 83, died in his home in Denver on May 23, 2023. Born in Colorado, he attended Regis Jesuit High School and was a proud Denver resident for virtually his entire life. He met and married his wife of 60 years, Kathleen Ann Brown, when he was 23, and together they raised their son and daughter, Wyck Brown and Theresa Flake.
Mr. Brown left an indelible imprint on the community, from working as the club professional and teaching pro at a number of golf courses and clubs throughout the metro area, to participating in community outreach and charity work in partnership with the Catholic community in Colorado and through the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception. He was a Class A PGA Professional, was known for being skilled at the card table, had a trademark sense of humor and smile that lit up the room, and was friend and mentor to many. He is survived by his wife Kathleen, their son Wyck (Denine) and daughter Theresa (David), their five grandchildren - Jeremy (Cassandra), Zachary (Aurelia), Austin (Taylor Jane), Joshua (Sadie), and Geoffrey (Megan), their great-grandson and great-granddaughter - Leo and Brinley, and his sister Linda Brown-Stiller. He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Catharine.
A public viewing will be held at Horan & McConaty (1091 S Colorado Blvd, Denver) on Thursday evening from 4-6 p.m., followed by a Rosary service at 6 p.m. Funeral services will take place at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception on Friday, May 26 at 9:30 a.m. Burial services will be private for immediate family, but a public reception will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Lakewood Country Club, 6800 W 10th Ave, Lakewood, CO 80214.
