Julie Grant

May 18, 1941 — December 23, 2020

Thornton, Colorado

Julie Marquison Hoyt Grant of Thornton, Colorado, passed away on December 23, 2020, at the age of 79.  Julie was born on May 18, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois.  She spent much of her early years in Illinois and Sioux Falls, South Dakota - where she had many happy times with her grandmother, Millie Marquison.  After moving to Denver in the early 1950s, she attended Denver Public Schools and graduated from South High School in 1959.  Julie went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in English from Northwestern University in 1963, and a Master's degree in Education from Stanford University in 1965.  She taught English at high school and junior college level.  Julie then shifted her focus to art, taking coursework and working as a commercial artist.  Later in life, she was self-employed in a variety of editing and proposal writing projects.

Julie married former husband Terry Grant in Palo Alto, California, in 1968, and they had sons Alex and Adam together.  In 2001 Julie moved back to Colorado to be close to her parents, Clifford and Monie Bebell.  In 2012 Julie purchased a home in Thornton, retiring there shortly afterward as her health declined.  In 2019 she was diagnosed with PSP (a cousin of Parkinson's Disease).  She eventually moved to assisted living, then to Bear Creek Nursing Home in Morrison - where she passed away of COVID in December, 2020.

Julie is survived by sons Alex and Adam, Adam's wife Julie, and their daughter Nova, as well as brothers David and Steven Bebell and sisters Bobbie Girardin, Janet Bebell, and Linda Gibas.

Julie loved family gatherings, was glad for walks and hikes before her PSP, and was a valued member of the Denver Mensa group.  She will be missed!
