Judith Mountfort

Judith Lorraine Mountfort, 83, of Thornton, Colorado passed away peacefully in her sleep on the afternoon of August 15, 2022. Judy was born to George and Myrtle Mathisen on November 19, 1938, on the family farm in Fort Lupton, Colorado. Judy has two sons, Brad Mountfort (Alexa) and Tom Mountfort (Sue). She has three grandchildren, Jacob, Jameson and Aaron Mountfort. Judy is survived by her sisters, Glenda Heil and Arlene Morrow and brother, George Mathisen. She is preceded in death by her brothers, James Mathisen and Earl Mathisen.

Judy was blessed with a very large family and was a wonderful Grandmother to her three grandsons and an awesome aunt to her many nieces and nephews. She loved them all and would always try to spend time with them and support them as much as she could.

Judy cherished her memories of farm life. It’s where she learned to be a fabulous cook and she would always stop at roadside markets to get fresh pickling cucumbers, tomatoes, and many other fresh vegetables. Judy also loved and embraced her Danish heritage. She was able to connect the Colorado relatives with relatives from Denmark and she was an active member of the Danish Sisterhood, Ellen Lodge 21.

Judy worked for years in the hotel and hospitality business and helped at the Denver Visitors and Convention Bureau.

Judy had a large network of lifelong friends. She was in a bridge group, a dinning group, and a season ticket holder to the Best of Broadway shows. She also loved to travel with friends and family, and she really enjoyed trips to the mountains here in Colorado.

Services will be held at Horan & McConaty, 5303 E County Line Rd. Centennial, Colorado on August 31, 2022, 12:00pm. Reception to follow.
