Judith Morgan

December 24, 1937 — January 15, 2023

Denver, Colorado

Judith Krajicek Morgan, 85, of Denver died January 15, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Dr. Dennis G. Morgan in July of 2004. She is survived by her children: Michael of Severence, CO, Suzanne (Albert) Maniccia of Oswego, NY, Stephen (Michelle) of Denver and Karen (Bradley) Klein of Firestone, CO. She had three grandchildren-- Madeline and Nathaniel Morgan, and Lucas Maniccia, and was a step-grandmother to Hannah, Holly and Lily Klein. She is also survived by her sister, Jean K. Bartek of Omaha, NE, niece Mary (Bernie) Slowik of Papillion, NE and nephew Karl (Laura) Weist of Colon NE.

Judith Marie was born on December 24, 1937 in Omaha to Josephine Marie (Karnish) and James Joseph Krajicek.

Judy grew up in South Omaha with and extensive family of Czech and Polish heritage. She worked at an insurance agency while she attended college to study Business Administration at Creighton University in Omaha. There, in 1956, she met the love of her life, Dennis Morgan, who was a dental student at Creighton. They were instantly smitten, dated for a couple of years and were engaged at Christmastime of 1958 on a cold night somewhere between Kearney and Pleasanton, Nebraska where Dennis had family.

Judy received the ‘Spirit of Creighton’ award upon her graduation in 1959. She was only the second woman to win this award, which is the highest award conferred upon students deemed to embody the spirit of Creighton’s founders.  While at Creighton, she was also a member of Theta Phi Alpha sorority, Gamma Pi Epsilon (a national honor society for women), and on the committee for the University’s first Student Leadership Conference.

After their graduation and marriage in 1959, Judy moved to Colorado where she helped Dennis establish dental practices in Englewood, then Leadville, and finally Denver. She assisted Dr. Morgan with bookkeeping and reception for many years, until Dennis’ death. She also worked as an accountant at a small firm for many years.

They settled in the Bonnie Brae neighborhood in 1969, and were long time members of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, where the children attended school. She sacrificed much for her children, even taking the bus to work to allow her children use of her car to get to their jobs.

Judy enjoyed the Colorado life with her family, and traveled extensively, including two trips to Africa with Dennis. She also traveled to Italy, Mexico, Canada, New York City, the Adirondacks and Santa Fe. She was close to her two Denver grandchildren, Maddie and Nate, whom she helped care for and attended activities with.

Judy will be remembered for her selflessness, deep love for her husband and unwavering support of her children and their families. The family would like to thank the caregivers and close neighbors who assisted Judy the last year and a half.
