Joyce L. Cooper, 92, of Westminster, entered into the gates of Heaven to join loved ones on January 10, 2022.  She was preceded in death by her husband, George H. Cooper Jr.; parents, Harold and Ruth Lee; sisters, Betty Peterson and Helen Clark; son-in-law, Robert Etchells; great grandson, David “DJ” Aggerbeck; great-great grandchildren, Ethan and Dakota Off; numerous aunts, uncles and other loved ones. She is survived by her children, Linda Etchells, Larry (Teresa) McCubbin and Steven (Barbara) McCubbin; grandchildren, Kellie (David) Aggerbeck, Kasie (Lenny) Krug, Lisa Lopez, Heather McCubbin, Ryan (Chelsea) McCubbin and Stephanie (Chris) Jaramillo; great grandchildren, Ashlie (Andy) Off, Lindsie Aggerbeck, Jeremy (Elizabeth) Aggerbeck, Alex Jaramillo, Brandon Lopez (Kasandra Brooks), Kylie Walden, (Matt Upchurch), Peyton McCubbin, Maggie Krug, Cade McCubbin, Gabbi Jaramillo, Azlyn Lopez, Hunter Krug and Maddox Jaramillo; great-great grandchildren, Scarlett, Oliver and Willow; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; extended family and dear friends.

Joyce was born July 17, 1929, in the small town of Ames, Iowa, the youngest of three girls and the apple of her daddy’s eye. She grew up in the Iowa farmlands and was very proud of not only her Iowa heritage but of her Irish and Lee heritage as well. As a teenager her family moved to Colorado and it quickly became her home although she would always remember fondly, her days on the farm with stories joyfully shared with her family. As an adult, she began a career at Olinger Mortuary where she would eventually meet the man who would become the love of her life and her husband of 27 years before his passing in 1999. Later, Joyce owned and ran with her daughter Linda, a Merle Norman Cosmetics studio for several years before retiring and selling the business in 1994.

She enjoyed her retirement years spending time with her children and their spouses, doting on her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, and enjoying time with friends and family. Joyce was an avid fan of the Denver Bronco’s and missed very few games. She enjoyed the fishing trips she would go on with her husband and dear friends to Black Lake, a private lake in the mountains. Holidays were very special to her as were summer BBQ's when she could gather with the people she loved the most. Joyce had a huge heart which was evident in the way she welcomed everyone into her life. She knew no strangers, only friends she had not met and most of those friends quickly became family. When Joyce loved, she loved big, and we are all the better for it.

We know she is flying steady with the angels she loved so much and is safe in the arms of Jesus surrounded by loved ones reunited. Joyce will be fondly remembered for years to come. We will miss her more than words can describe and will continue to love her with an unending devotion.

A special thank you to The Denver Hospice and her dedicated care providers, Vicky, Julie, Paul and Chaplain Keith Swingle.
