Josephine Kalthoff

Josephine Marie (Warkins) Kalthoff was born on July 25, 1930, in Denver, Colorado to Mary Minnie (Yano) and Mark Warkins. She was baptized at the Evangelical Lutheran Mission, Denver (now Redeemer Lutheran Church) on June 16, 1935. She was confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church, Denver on April 12, 1944. Her confirmation verse is "Continue steadfastly in the Apostles' doctrine and fellowship and in breaking of bread and in prayer", Acts 2:42.

She attended Denver Public Schools, graduating from East Denver High in 1948. She attended the University of Colorado, Boulder and Denver.

She and Kirby McIntosh were married on November 22, 1953. They had three children, Robin Roy McIntosh, Nolan Daniel McIntosh and Denine Kay (McIntosh) Kysar. Jo and Kirby were divorced in 1973. Kirby died on October 12, 1984 from a brain tumor.

Josephine and Glenn Kalthoff were married on April 6, 1986 at Grace Lutheran Church, Denver.

Josephine had worked part-time as a market research interviewer and owned a market research business. She was employed full time by Shwayder Brothers, the Air Forcce Finance Center, the Denver Department of Social Services and the Colorado Department of Human Services. She retired from the Colorado Department of Human Services in January 1997.

She was active in church activities, including Altar Guild, teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, being a member of choirs, Human Care and LWML.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Mark Warkins, her sister, Marketta Rasband and Betty May Van De Kerckhove, her brother Jack Warkins, her son, Nolan McIntosh, her brother-in-law, Lawrence Van De Kerckhove and aunts, uncles and cousins.

She is survived by her husband, Reverend Glenn Kalthoff, her son, Rob and her daughter Denine, two grandchildren, Jessica and Thomas Kysar, great granddaughter, Madaline and her two step-children, Laura Bowman (Tyson), Cecil and Tim Kalthoff.
