Centennial

Joanne Kubiak lost her battle with leukemia and passed away peacefully in home hospice care on September 22, 2020, which was her 83rd birthday.  Joanne was born in Milwaukee, WI and grew up bilingual in a German American immigrant household.  She graduated from Mount Mary College in Milwaukee, WI with a bachelor’s degree in Art History.  Joanne worked as an editor for a childrens’ book publisher for a number of years and then focused on homemaking to raise her three sons.  Once the kids were old enough, she added a part time job at the Archdiocese of Denver managing their film and media department and later worked as an administrative assistant for the English department at the University of Denver.

Joanne liked music and sang in her church choir at Pax Christi Parish.  She also enjoyed cooking, travel, skiing, camping, and was a member of the Lamont Society.

Joanne was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Johanna Hummel; sister, Angie Ebert, and son, Paul Kubiak.  She is survived by her husband of 60 years Thomas M. Kubiak; her sons, Peter (Debra) Kubiak and Tim (Kim) Kubiak; and grandchildren, Gavin Kubiak and Clark Kubiak; and special nephews, Michael Mundschau of Longmont, Colorado and Clifford Margis of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Celebration of Life Service to be determined post-COVID19. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to Denver Rescue Mission or UC Health Center Anschutz Cancer Center.
