Joan Buffington

Joan "Joanie" Buffington, 72, Centennial, Colorado, passed away Thursday, October 14th, 2021 at UC Health Medical Center in Highlands Ranch, Colorado.

Joanie was born August 10th, 1949 in Norfolk, Nebraska.  The daughter of Lawrence J. and Frances M. Leifeld. In 1967, she graduated from Grand Island Central Catholic High School and then received a degree from Colorado Womens College in Denver, Colorado. On September 16th, 1974 she married Robert "Bob" E Buffington.

Achievements and Career Highlights

Joanie was employed at Norstar petroleum. She was a member of St Thomas More Catholic Church in Englewood, Colorado. Joanie enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren's activities, traveling, gardening and fishing.

Joanie is survived by Robert her husband of 47 years; they had three beautiful children, Amanda Gunderson (Brandon Gunderson), Lacey Buffington, and Krista Shaw (John Shaw); eight grandchildren, Kiley, Damon, Braden, Brooklynn, Tyler, Alani, Ashlynn, and Lania; and one great granddaughter, Kylaya; two sisters, Jannan Mclellan (Billy Mclellan), Jude Lammert (Bill Lammert); a sister-in-law Judy Buffington and numerous neices and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, (Donald Leifeld).

A viewing and rosary will be held at 6:00 pm, Monday, October 18, 2021 will be held at Horan & McConaty Funeral home, in Centennial, Colorado. Funeral will be held at St. Thomas More Catholic Church at 11:00 am, Tuesday, October 19, 2021.
