Jerome "Jerry" Nelson

Aurora, Colorado

Jerome “Jerry” Allen Nelson, 77, of Aurora, Colorado, passed away November 15, 2020, surrounded by his loving family. Jerry was born February 27, 1943 in Willmar, Minnesota to Rudolph Arnold and Ella Jane Olson Nelson.

Jerry graduated from Glenwood Highschool in 1961 and joined the Air Force in 1964 where he served his country until 1968. After serving in the Air Force, he worked for Northwest Airlines in Los Angeles where he met his beautiful wife Judy whom he married 3 years later. After they relocated to Colorado, Jerry converted to the LDS faith and he and Judy were sealed in the temple along with their 3 boys Scott, Chad and Adam.

Jerry loved his family and his country. He enjoyed golfing with his son Scott, sports with his son Chad and politics and military with his son Adam. He will be missed by all of us.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Judith “Judy” Nelson; three sons, Scott (Laura), Chad, and Adam (Linda); his grandchildren, Tianna (Austin) Garcia, Mikayla Nelson, Marrissa Nelson, Liam Nelson and Lena Nelson; his two loving great-grandchildren Darren and Analeigha Garcia; and siblings, Margaret Swanson, Chuck and Kathy Nelson, and Denny and Judy Sager.

Preceded in death by his parents Rudolph Arnold and Ella Jane Olson, his stepmother Violet Nelson and his brother in law Ken Swanson.

A public viewing will be held on Wednesday, November 18th, from 6-8pm, in the Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 11150 E. Dartmouth Ave., Aurora, CO  80014. Due to COVID, masks are required and no more than 50 people will be allowed to gather in the Chapel at one time. The funeral home staff will be monitoring the numbers. Because of this, we ask that your visit with the family be brief.

Due to COVID, a private funeral service for family and invited guests will be held at 12Noon, on Thursday, November 19th, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 21750 East Dorado Ave., Aurora. For those wishing to participate virtually, please contact the family or a someone from his Church congregation for the private link.

A private graveside service with Military Honors will be held at 3:15pm, on Thursday, November 19th, at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
