Jerome Boswell

December 8, 1935 — June 17, 2021

Lakewood

We lost one for the ages Jerry Boswell. Jerry passed surrounded by family and Porter Hospice on June 17th, 2021. Hospice staff told Jerry to celebrate every day like ‘it’s your birthday’, so he did.

Jerry was born in St. Paul, Minnesota in December 1935, to Charlotte and Levi Boswell. They moved often due to Army commitments and eventually settled in Alva, Oklahoma where he graduated from Alva High School in 1949. He then attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University graduating in 1953. After moving to Denver in 1959 he finished his MBA at University of Denver in 1966. During this time, he met his future wife Ardra whom he married in June of 1961.

Jerry liked to be where people were happily enjoying life.  He also spent his life serving others. When St. Thomas More needed a leader, he stepped-up as their first Parish Council President. While raising his young children, he started a Boy Scout Troop, coached and refereed soccer with his wife Ardie, and was President of the Rocky Mountain Swim League. Later in life, he became a distinguished member of The Knights of Columbus at St. Francis Cabrini, served on the finance committee of the Grant Ranch Master HOA and a member of the Littleton Retired Men’s Club.

Jerry’s career started as a graphic designer then expanded into an illustrious career managing and leading print and direct mail companies.  Instead of retiring, he trained his skills on yet a new venture, to support the marketing needs of non-profits.  Jerry is well known for his TO DO lists and data rich spreadsheets.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife Ardie, daughter Seanna Mulligan (Allen), son Scott Boswell (Renae) and daughter Kathleen Harvey (Chad). Grandchildren Meghan and Chadwick Mulligan, Ethan and Olivia Harvey; siblings Ron Boswell, Phillip Boswell, Steve Stewart, and Mary Ellen Stebbins. He was preceded in death by his brother Jack Boswell and sister Sharon Crosby.

Men like Jerry “don’t come down the pike” very often.  He loves his friends like family.  There are many stories about Jerry and his exploits. He was not one to sit idly by and just watch; no he committed himself entirely. Some of his worldly endeavors included: cutting wheat with his buddies from Texas to Canada then hitch-hiked his way home with a boot full of cash; or how he was bitten by a scorpion in the Grand Canyon and hiked out.  His athletic exploits included performing in a college gymnastic troupe throughout Kansas, Texas, and Oklahoma. Later in life, due to his bride’s influence, he picked up skiing and never missed an opportunity ‘if the lifts were running’.  Never slept in a tent, even in the rain, and mastered cooking over an open fire.  He ‘moved’ cattle with the best of them, dressed in a red-felt hat.  Relocated Indian remains in the Osage Indian lands. Loved to navigate with TOPO maps, animal trails and a compass.  Mastered sculling and sailing at the Grant Ranch Yacht Club.  Most importantly, he and Ardie never missed the numerous sporting events or special activities their children or grandchildren.

Jerry celebrated his final days by telling tales, sharing wisdom acknowledging his close friends and terrific family.   Prior to his passing, Jerry was quoted as saying “This has been the best week of my life”

In his memory, the family asks that support be directed to the following organizations:
