One of her greatest accomplishments was as 1998 Ms. Senior Colorado. She performed a tap dance, modeled a beautiful gown and received a special award for an answer to the pre-pageant interviews.

Marlene was a very active person and enjoyed dancing, skiing, ice and roller skating, hiking, singing, and yoga.

She was an animal lover and provided a home to several beloved dogs and cats. She would also ensure the local birds and squirrels would not miss a meal. Abandoned dogs received special attention and she would ensure she would find a home for them.
