James Leacock

August 10, 1942 — May 2, 2021

James H. Leacock, born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on August 10, 1942, was 78 years old when he passed away on May 2, 2021. James’ contribution to serving our great country is what legacies are made of. James honorably served his country retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer 3, Veteran of the Army, serving our great nation for 28 years. After his military service, James continued serving within the federal government, working for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for another 28 years, where he still was referred to as, “Chief,” by his colleagues. His dedication and service to our country will always be a noble legacy to his family and those he served honorably beside. James equally served his family with the same dedication, even though he “may” have swore under his breath about it.

James is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Anne Leacock, their four children; James, Mary, Paul, and Colleen, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

James loved watching and playing sports. He was a fierce competitor, especially on the softball field, and was often mistaken as a “young one” due to his quickness and mad skills. He was a “Jack of all trades,” and his humor was often subtle, so you had to pay attention. When being asked every day questions like, “How is your day?” he would often respond with, “Same shit different day!” As well as, when asked, “What are you doing?” He would quip, “What are you writing a book...it’s gonna be a mystery!” There is no mystery to the end of his great life’s novel, he will be greatly missed.

James will be laid to rest at Fort Logan National Cemetery with full military honors.
