James Flood

September 30, 1965 — February 16, 2021

James “Jim” Patrick Flood, age 55, died at his Aurora residence on Tuesday, February 16, 2021.

Jim was born on September 30, 1965, on Lakenheath AFB in England, 80 miles northeast of London. He was a proud life-long resident of Aurora. Jim attended K-12 in Aurora Public Schools, graduating from Aurora Central High School in 1984.  In 1986, Jim enlisted the United States Navy and served as an Aviation Antisubmarine Warfare Technician before his honorable medical discharge in 1987.

He worked for the United States Postal Service where he held several positions during his 23-year tenure. While Jim entered the USPS as a mail handler he would later become a supervisor, a tour guide, and then specialize in safety. His role in safety lead him to complete his Safety and Health Specialist Certificate from Red Rocks Community College OSHA Training Institute in 2005.

Jim was an active and athletic man participating in softball, bowling, and pool leagues over the years. He also had a passion for golfing, fishing, and gambling. Jim loved his Denver and Colorado sports teams, most notably the Denver Broncos.

Survivors include his children Brennen Flood and Brooke Flood (Denver), his sister Paddy Lowery (Julesburg), three nieces, and one nephew.

Jim was preceded in death by his mother Katherine K. Flood, his father Thomas J. Flood, and his sister Kathleen Patterson.

Due to current Covid-19 restrictions, a small memorial service will be held at Ft. Logan Cemetery.
