Hilario Muniz

Hilario, 96, of Denver, Colorado entered into eternity on Friday, April 10, 2015. He is survived by his wife, Betty; his children, John Muniz (Nancy), Jeffrey Muniz (Valerie), Larry Muniz (Jorrie), Donny Muniz, and Sharon Muniz-Gonzales (Samuel); his grandchildren, Eric Muniz (Stacy), April Cervone (Gregory), Christine Ivankovich (Shane), Rachelle Nemec (Tony), Michael Muniz (Theresa), Tim Muniz (Mary Ann), Adam Muniz, Andrew Muniz and Cody Valencia (Maura) and his great-grandchildren, Donovan Muniz, Lauren Muniz, Charlie Ivankovich, Ava Ivankovich, Camilla Muniz, Jasmine Cervone, Gregory Guereca, Devon Guereca, Page Guereca, Makenna Nemec, Caden Nemec, Kayleigh Muniz and Keira Muniz. Proceeded in death by his father Jacobo; mother, Emilia; and his siblings Antonia, Lucia, Sisto, Cecilio, Monico, Simona, Matilda, and Jose. Hilario was born on June 21, 1918 in a little town called Logan, New Mexico. He was born to Jacobo Muniz and Emilia Torrez and was one of 10 children. Hilario served in the US Army during WWII as a Staff Sergeant. He worked for Denver Housing Authority for over 20 years in maintenance and served as Union President of his Local Teamsters 535 of the Colorado Union of Public Employees Council 76, AFL-CIO. He also retired from the Denver Cancer Research center where he did maintenance engineering and volunteered much of his time with fund raising efforts for the center. Hilario was a member of the Moose fraternal organization and spent his retirement years enjoying time with his family, his dogs, taking vacations with his children and their families, dancing, reading, playing Bingo, attending Moose lodge functions, yard work, playing with his great-grandchildren, helping his neighbors in many ways, dining out with his wife and eating crab legs! He was such a loving and caring man to everyone he knew and met. He will be fondly and lovingly remembered by all that knew him. Memorial Services will be held at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel at 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd in Lakewood, Colorado on Wednesday, April 15, 2015. Visitation and Viewing will begin at 8:30 AM, with services starting at 9:00 AM. Interment with Full Honors immediately follows at Fort Logan National Cemetery. A lunch reception will be held after the service at VFW Post #9644, 2680 W Hampden Ave, Littleton, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the ColoadoVisiting Nurse Association – Hospice Department. 390 Grant St. Denver Colorado 80203. Please be sure to specify Hospice.
