Helen Louise Hill passed away on May 29, 2021 at her home in Thornton, Colorado after a lengthy illness. Helen was born to Gordon and Kathleen Courtney on May 22, 1938 in Marceline, Missouri. Helen married Jacob Hill and together they had six children, Jacob Jr., Jeffery, John, Jesse, Joseph, and Jennifer.  They were later divorced. Helen served as Adams County Treasurer for 24 years, managing the county’s tax revenue and investments. She was responsible for tax collections exceeding $170 million dollars— funding which supported Adams County’s significant growth and development. Helen was the first female elected official in Adams County and previously served as Adams County Public Trustee. She was recognized for her ongoing service and contributions to numerous professional, political, and civic organizations.  Helen is a graduate of Parks Business College in Denver. Known for her quick wit, passion for writing and crossword mastery, Helen loved politics, foreign policy, and was always prepared for a debate. She loved to cook and was known for her delicious pies. When she retired from public service, Helen started Hill’s Harvest, a farmer’s market, where she sold produce, her special preserves, and pickled beets. Helen touched so many lives and was loved by all.  Heaven has a new angel. Helen is survived by her six children, Jacob Jr., Jeffrey, John, Joseph, Jesse, and Jennifer, 15 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two siblings and in-laws including Ralph Courtney, brother, Geri Courtney, sister-in-law, Sue DeBenedictis, sister, Francis (Benny) DeBenedictis, brother-in-law, David McCammon, brother-in-law, Peggy Romero, sister-in-law, as well as her long-time friend Judith Kahle and son Christopher.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by Delores Kroll, sister, Gordon Courtney Jr., brother, Norma Walmsley, sister, and Patricia McCammon, sister. A memorial service for Helen will be held at Summit of Peace Lutheran Church in Thornton on June 29, 2021 at 11am.
