Gary Anderson

Gary Lynn Anderson of Englewood, died December 14, 2014, in Parker at the age of 70. Gary was born September 18, 1944, in Salinas, California, to Arnold O. and Charlotte L. (Bunch) Anderson. He moved to Colorado at about age 2. He attended Charles Hay Elementary, Flood Junior High and Englewood High School, all in Englewood, Colorado. He graduated in June 1963. He attended Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colorado for 2 years and graduated with an Associate's Degree in May 1965. Also in May 1965, he married Donna Jean Martin at the Lutheran Church of the Cross, in Evergreen, Colorado. They had been married 49 ½ years at the time of his death. They lived in Englewood and Littleton until moving to Pueblo in 1991 and then back to Englewood in 2007. From boyhood through much of fatherhood, Gary was a Boy Scout or Boy Scout leader. One the biggest kids of all, he enjoyed camping with the boys and helping them to learn scouting ways. He worked for Public Service Company (now Xcel Energy) from 1967-2003. Moving from the Line Department to plant Electrician and then to Supervisor of the Electrical Department at Comanche in Pueblo, then back to plant Electrician before retiring. Gary started bowling in 1964 and then started to increase his average each year after that. He bowled THREE PERFECT 300 GAMES and numerous 299 games. He won several tournaments and made a good showing in even more for State and Nationals. The past several years he has even bowled senior ""no tap"" tournaments in Laughlin, Nevada. Gary was an avid golfer. After his retirement he got job at Walking Stick Golf Course in Pueblo in the cart barn, and then at Saddle Rock Golf Course in Aurora, as a Ranger. Mostly he did it for the free golf. He enjoyed playing as often as he could (when he wasn't working or his wife would allow him to). He also enjoyed wood carving, fishing, water skiing, walks by the river, and spending time with his grandchildren and children. He was preceded in death by his parents Arnold and Charlotte and his sister Rolena Williamson. He is survived by his wife Donna, son, Jeff Anderson, son, Mark and wife, Jade Anderson, daughter, Laura and husband, Jim Dillon, grandchildren, Alex, Caleb and Rebekah, brother, Larry and wife Linda Anderson, and numerous nieces, nephews and many, many friends. Services will be held at Horan & McConaty December 22, 2014. He will be cremated after the services. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the Boy Scouts of America. He will be missed greatly by his entire family and all of his friends.
