Eugene Rector

Eugene “Gene” D. Rector, 88, of Northglenn/Thornton went home to be with Jesus on November 25, 2020. He was born on October 21, 1932 in Omaha, Nebraska.

Gene married Norma K (Snedeker) on September 12, 1956 and had 64 wonderful years of marriage. He started working at age 16, beginning at the Nelson Meat Market in Clarinda, Iowa. He served 2 years in the Army from 1952-1954. He returned to Clarinda and worked for the Lisle Corporation then moved to Tulsa, OK in 1957 to attend school. In 1958, Gene began work as an airline mechanic for Frontier Airlines and then for Continental Airlines for a total of 37 years before his retirement.

He deeply loved the Lord, his family, and his friends. He enjoyed sharing anything that had to do with airplanes, jets, automobiles, and motorcycles.

He will be remembered for his dedication to the Lord, his unending love for his wife, his unconditional love for his family and friends and his compassion for those in hospitals and nursing homes. He was always there when anyone needed him, no matter the time or day.

In addition to his wife, Norma, he is survived by his children, Michael Rector married to Cheryl Rector, Karen Acosta-Hernandez married to Roberto Acosta-Hernandez and Rhona “Mikki” Baker married to Steven Baker, his grandchildren Shaundra Valdez, Laura Robinson, Ryan Rector, Brandi Jackson, Christine Cook, Matthew Rector, Brian Storovich married to Shelli Storovich, Christopher Baker married to Tonya Baker, Crystal Valdez, Benjamin Storovich and Miguel Valdez married to Norma Valdez. He also had 21 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth and his sisters, Evelyn, and Gloria.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 from 2:00pm – 8:00pm at Horan & McConaty, 9998 Grant St. Thornton, CO 80229.  Burial with military honors will be held on Monday, December 7, 2020 at 11:30am.
