Estrelita Nery

Estrelita Nery, resident of Anchorage, Alaska, born January 5, 1946, died peacefully on September 20, 2021, in Denver, Colorado. Known as Lita, she is survived by her 6 children and 12 grandchildren. Sons Roman and Nicolas, Daughters Melissa, Anne, Doris, and Lucia. Grandchildren CJ, Joseph, Adrian, Eric, Anthony, Nika, Lennox, Erika, Ella, Lance, Lindsay, and Patricia. Lita was preceded in death by her husband, Danilo Nery.

Lita was the 5th of 8 children born to Theodore and Virginia Dela Cruz in Dau Mabalacat, in the Republic of the Philippines. She is survived by her Brothers Arsenio, Benjamin, and Cezar, Lamberto, Sisters Terecita, Francisca, and Regina. From an early age, Lita found her passion in sewing. She owned a small shop in Dau as a young woman, which led to a life-long career as a master tailor/seamstress. Later, she immigrated to the United States, working at Nordstrom's Anchorage location until they closed in 2020. Known for her bridal and men's wear talents, Lita was one of the most in-demand alterations specialists in Anchorage.

From the tropical islands of the Philippines to Alaska's cold wilderness, Lita found joy in traveling between both homes. She returned to her native country as often as she was able. Deeply rooted in her faith, Lita lived her life in accordance of the teachings of the Roman Catholic church. She believed in loving with a whole heart, without boundaries. Devoted to her family and loved by many friends, Lita's generous spirit and kindness will be greatly missed.
