Elvira Schierling

March 12, 1935 — August 11, 2020

Elvira Mae Schierling, age 85, died peacefully August 11, 2020. She was born March 12, 1935 in Meade Kansas, to John and Martha Ediger. She married Donald Schierling June 20, 1960.  They had 60 wonderful years together.

Elvira was a loving and dedicated wife to Don Schierling, the loving mother to Dawn Schierling-Harder, her husband Kevin Harder, and Sonja Schierling and the loving and proud grandma of Darren and Travis Harder and Jolene Rogers.   She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved being a grandma.

Elvira loved children.  She taught Kindergarten and preschool for many years and touched many young lives.  Her passion was reading to kids and teaching them to love learning from books.  She also loved to garden and loved her flowers.

She traveled many places with her husband Don later in life. They experienced these adventures with many friends over the years.

Her life was a living example of “Be kind and compassionate to one another and forgive one another.”

She joins her parents John and Martha Ediger, her brother Junior Ediger, and numerous family and friends in heaven.

All whom loved her dearly will never forget her smile, her hugs and her unconditional love she gave them all.

The family asks in lieu of flowers, donations be made in memory of Elivra to Glennon Heights Mennonite Church or Alzheimer’s Association.

At this time, no service will be held because of the current health concerns.

“Love as powerful as your mother’s for you leaves it’s own mark. To have been loved so deeply, even though the person who loved us is gone, will give us some protection forever.” – J.K. Rowling.
