E. Keith Williams

August 15, 1939 — April 14, 2021

E. Keith Williams, 81, died at the Medical Center of Aurora, Colorado, on April 14, 2021, following an extended hospitalization.

Keith was born and raised in Decatur, Illinois. He later moved to Lincoln, IL, where he worked at Cutler Hammer before beginning a career in industrial technical sales for Chesterton. Keith married Shirley F. Perry (Stephens) in 1974, and they moved to Aurora, Colorado in the 1980s. Keith retired from Chesterton in 2006 as manager and distributor of sales for an area covering several western states. By being one of the top salesmen for the company, Keith was often rewarded with annual trips to locations like Hong Kong, Vienna Austria, and Monte Carlo. In addition, Keith and Shirley chose to travel to England as well as around the United States with RVs. They especially enjoyed time spent being snowbirds in the warm climate of Scottsdale, Arizona, during the winter months. Keith enjoyed many hobbies such as blacksmithing, metal detecting, cooking, and working in his workshop. Any time well-spent often included friends.

Keith is survived by wife Shirley Williams, brother Ben E. Williams (Karen) of Savannah, GA; daughter Shelly A. Chabak of Decatur, IL; son Eric D. Williams (Julie) of Jacksonville, FL; son Scott Perry (Debby) of Aurora, CO; grandchildren Jonathan K. Williams (Heather) of Spring Hill, TN; Kelson D. Chabak (Amber) of Springboro, OH; Mickey S. Chabak (Maggie) of Springfield, IL; Brooke Williams of Gainesville, FL; Eli Williams of Jacksonville, FL; and Bradshaw and Eric Perry of Aurora, CO; as well as 11 great grandchildren. He was “Gee Pah” to his Colorado great grandchildren. Keith was preceded in death by his parents Ornan Audubon Williams and Gladys Priscilla Hays, son Brian K. Williams, brother O. Dale Williams, and other loving relatives.

Keith made sure Shirley knew his wishes, and a memorial service for friends and family will be organized in the coming months. It was Keith’s wish that at the appointed time, his loved ones would gather together to share stories, good memories, and laughter. Of all the things Keith ever said, it was never “I am too tired to go on.” Instead, he overcame so many health challenges along the way precisely because he was such a lover of life and people. His friends and family knew this best.
