Douglas Van Stone Seifert age 70, passed away unexpectedly November 14, 2022 at his home in Aurora, Colorado.
He is survived by his wife, Maureen Seifert; son, Michael Sedan of Aurora, Colorado; twin sister, Anne Hulm of Lafayette, Colorado; and his “other children,” pups Milo and Alleigh.
He is preceded in death by his parents Elizabeth and Albert Seifert.
Doug was born in Belgium to American parents before being adopted by Elizabeth and Albert Seifert in 1955. Doug’s adopted father was an Army officer which led to the family relocating several times through his childhood including to Japan for a short while. However, his childhood was primarily spent in Georgia and Colorado with summers at a family ranch in the mountains near Winter Park. He always had a fascination with things and from an early age needed to take them apart to see how they worked. This led to an Army tour as a mechanic and a lifelong interest in automotive engine and later autobody repair where in his final years he became a student at Emily Griffith Technical College.
Doug always loved animals and before a knee injury was an avid roller-skater.
People will remember him as natural comedian who loved to joke and tease, but always with good intention. To be the subject of his humor was a sign that he liked you and that he wanted to break the ice. He enjoyed his afternoon meals and there are surely several local restaurants that will miss their afternoon entertainer.
Doug will be missed by all those that knew and loved him. He was often smiling and although his final years were marked by frequent and persistent health issues, he remained positive and strong.
