Daniel Galleri, 71, passed away July 23, 2020. He was born to Marie Alice Malcolm and Daniel Galleri in East Orange, New Jersey.
Dan spent his formative years in New Jersey, served in the United States Navy and made his way to Colorado in 1974. He worked in a number of professions over the years and even owned his own business delivering potable water to mountain communities. Dan ended his working career doing what he loved, working with children in Jefferson County public schools.
Dan loved interacting with and learning from people. After his retirement, he volunteered in the Prehistoric Journey at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, which piqued his curiosity and fed his passion for learning. Dan also volunteered for Jeffco open space at the Lookout Mountain Nature Center. He made friends easily and enjoyed helping people experience and learn about the outdoors.
Dan’s love of the outdoors led to many years of enjoying Colorado’s myriad adventures. He shared the beauty, thrill and fun of white water rafting in the summer, snowboarding and skiing in the winter with his family, friends and others. Dan worked as a mountain host for a ski resort in the winter as he learned to snowboard with his kids. In the summer, he drove a bus for the white water rafting company that both of his children would later work for, thanks to his loving encouragement. At work, volunteering or on vacation Dan always found new friends, as he was fun and outgoing wherever he went and whatever he was doing.
Dan is survived by his wife Patricia “Patty” Pughes; son Dylan J. Galleri and his wife Lauren; daughter Chelsea R. Galleri; sister Deborah Lynne Byram and her children Jenna Craven and Nick Byram; along with many other loving family members and friends.
Dan will be missed by his friends and family, but will continue to bring them smiles as they recall his many antics and adventures. Dan’s wish for his friends would be that you raise a glass to the good times and remember the fun.
