Constantine "Dean" Sotiriou was born in Athens, Greece to Evangelos and Demetra Sotiriou. He is predeceased by his brothers George and Reno Sotiriou.
Dean immigrated to the United States when he was 18 directly to the University of Texas, where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. At the University of Mississippi, Dean earned his Master’s degree in Engineering. Dean also earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business at the University of Indiana in 1965, followed by a Doctor’s degree in Business at the University of Colorado in 1969.
Dean taught Business Management at the University of Denver from 1970 to 1999, and was the Assistant Dean of the Daniels College of Business. After retirement, Dean continued teaching Business Management classes internationally through the University of California, Berkeley.
Dean met his wife of 59 years, Syrma Paikos, while working in Indianapolis, Indiana at RCA Victor. They were married soon after on March 1, 1964. Together, they migrated to Denver in 1967 and raised two children, Evan Dean (born October 15, 1974) and Mimi Sophia (born October 21, 1975).
Dean passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his family, on October 15th, 2021.
The Trisagion will be Monday, October 18th at 7pm at St. Catherine's Greek Orthodox Church at 5555 South Yosemite Street, Greenwood Village, CO 80111.
The funeral will be held the following day on Tuesday, October 19th at 12:30pm at St. Catherine’s Greek Orthodox Church at 5555 South Yosemite Street, Greenwood Village, CO 80111.
Graveside will follow immediately at Fairmount Cemetery. Please enter on the Alameda entrance and park at staging area A.
Reception to follow at Le French: 4901 S Newport St, Denver, CO 80237. Please RSVP with his family to attend the seated lunch.
In accordance with city ordinance, please wear a mask if you are unvaccinated.
In lieu of flowers, please either donate to a charity of your choice, or do something kind for Dean's family over the next year.
