Cecelia German

October 24, 1950 — April 5, 2021

After a long and valiant fight, Cecelia Ann German (nee Orff), age 70, was taken into the loving arms of Our Lord on Monday April 5, 2021. She passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family. She was born the daughter of James F. and Juanita M. Orff (nee Sanchez) in Colorado Springs, Colorado, who preceded her in death. Cecelia graduated from St. Mary’s High School and earned scholarships from the University of Colorado. After she completed a business degree, she went back to school to earn a Residential Real Estate and Broker license.

Her pride was her family. She fell in love with her soul mate, George (Guy) German, after a charming encounter at the United States Air Force Academy. They were blessed by the covenant of marriage for 52 years. Together they raised two daughters and experienced an adventurous military life. Wherever they lived around the world, she was quick to make a house a comfortable home. She was a talented cook who nourished her family by creating delicious meals and sweetened our lives with her marvelous baking skills. She was a gracious hostess who enjoyed entertaining guests, especially officers’ wives via teas, showers, and luncheons. Extended family and friends would gather around her table to celebrate holidays and special occasions. She especially loved her role as Nana.

A Catholic identity shaped her personal character and dignified living. Belonging to a church community offered comfort and hope throughout her life.  Her devout faith was a source of inspiration, courage and served as a model to others she met in the name of the Lord. She was called to service and charity by actively participating in various ministries of fellowship and providing a variety of helpful resources via stewardship. Her home was always open to all those in need.  She was an ardent advocate of the value of a Catholic school education, devotion to the Blessed Mother, sacred traditions, and living her faith through the example of the Beatitudes.

She is clothed with strength and dignity and laughs at the days to come.

Proverbs 31:25

Cecelia is survived by her devoted husband Guy German, daughters Cathy Bayens and Cyndi (Garret) Kolb; and five grandchildren: Brielle and Carys Bayens, and Aidan, Noah and Delaney Kolb. Plus, her three adoring sisters and brother; and her many nieces and great nephews whom she loved dearly.

Visitation will be on Sunday, April 11th from 2:00-4:00 with a recitation of the Rosary immediately following at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, Centennial, CO.

Her life will be honored with a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday April 12th at 11:00, celebrated at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Centennial, CO.

Private interment to follow and her eternal rest shall be in Colorado Springs, CO.
