Lakewood

Carl Arthur “Andy” Anderson, Jr. passed away on October 28, 2020 following a brief illness.

Carl was born on May 25, 1939.  He was a Colorado native and attended West High School in Denver.  While attending high school, he met fellow student, Jeanette Henderson.  He and Jeanette were married on June 22, 1957 when he was just 18 years old.  Their wedding took place in his family’s living room in Denver.  They were married for 63 years and together were blessed with four children - Greg (Sharon), Cindy (Brian), Jeff (Shari) and Tammy. Together they had 8 grandchildren, (Steven, Scott, Joshua, Marcus, Michael, Andrew, Matthew and Madison) as well as 8 great-grandchildren.

Prior to their marriage, Carl was headed out to see Jeanette one evening.   His mother told him he couldn’t go but he told her he was in fact going to see his love.  In order to prevent him from seeing Jeanette, his mother hit him on the head with a snow shovel, causing Carl to fall down the stairs.  While he didn’t end up seeing Jeanette that evening, the blow to the head certainly didn’t stop him from building a wonderful life with his high school sweetheart.

Carl was an avid Bronco fan and had season tickets beginning with the first season in 1960 and for 36 years after.   He amassed quite a collection of Bronco memorabilia including two stadium chairs from the old Mile High Stadium.

Carl worked for Lockheed Martin for 36 years.  He was a part of several rocket launches and was involved with the Titan and Viking Projects.  Additionally, his name appears on the Mars Rover.  He was also involved with the UAW union.

Carl enjoyed the outdoors and the mountains.  He and Jeanette spent winters in Texas with their beloved dog, Princess.  He also collected hats and Hot Wheel cars.

When Carl’s first grandson was ready to buy his first car, Carl went with him to the dealership.  The grandson wanted a fancy car but Carl said he was going to get the purple truck because no one wants to drive a purple truck.  Always the negotiator, Carl got the price of the truck down so low, the salesman actually cried as he did not make any money on the transaction.

Carl enjoyed his family and loved spending time with Jeanette.  Together they raised their family, enjoyed their dogs and even participated in drag racing in Castle Rock many years ago.

Carl is survived by his wife Jeanette, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and will be missed by those fortunate to have met him.
