Carl Ott, age 72, passed away on September 16, 2020 from a long battle with interstitial lung disease.

He was born on May 11, 1948 in South Bend, Indiana and was raised in Niles, Michigan. He graduated from Niles High School and attended Lake Michigan College and Andrews University. He enlisted in the Army in 1969 and spent two tours in Vietnam, finishing his service in Germany. Afterwards, he attended Wayne State University in Detroit to study Photography. While taking classes at Photography Place he met his future wife, Cathy, over Harvey Wallbangers at their Christmas party. A year later they were married and moved to Fort Hood, Texas where he was stationed after re-enlisting in the Army. In February 1976 they moved to Stuttgart, Germany, where they lived until July 1978. After his discharge, he lived in Ferndale and Royal Oak, Michigan, raising his three children, and in 1992 he moved to Littleton, Colorado. For years he worked as a Photographer, until he graduated from Nursing School. For 22 years he took care of Eli, who was severely autistic, until he retired at the end of 2016. He was a member of Foothills Fellowship Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife Cathy; two daughters, Heather, and Stephanie; his grandchildren, Katie, Madison, Tommy and Danica; and his brother, Mike. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Wendell and Freida; and his son David.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, September 22 from 5-7 pm at the Horan & McConaty family chapel.
