Bruce Eddings

May 30, 1947 — November 19, 2021

Bruce Don Eddings, Sr., was born in Fort Monmouth, New Jersey on May 30, 1947.  He was 74 at the time of his death on November 19, 2021.  He lived in Aurora, Colorado for the last 41 years.  He passed away peacefully at home with the presence of his wife by his side.

Bruce graduated from Long Branch High School in Long Branch, New Jersey in 1967 and entered the U.S. Air Force shortly thereafter.  He was deployed to Vietnam in 1969 and was honorably discharged in 1971 after having earned a Purple Heart.  After returning to Colorado, he began his service with the Veterans Administration Medical Center where he worked for 33 years and retired as a Stationary Engineer in 2005.  He also served several years in the Army Reserves and left with the rank of Technical Sergeant.

Bruce enjoyed spending time with his family, completing projects at home, traveling, and having coffee with his many friends.  He avidly loved the music of the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s, and was particularly inspired by The Beatles; Simon and Garfunkel; and Peter, Paul and Mary.  After his retirement, he loved photography, building and using computers and other electronic gadgets, participating as a lifetime member of Post 100 of the Scottish American Military Society, and restoring his 1966 Ford Mustang convertible.  He was very proud of his service with the 554th Red Horse while he was in the Air Force in Vietnam and stayed in touch with many of his friends until his death.

Bruce is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Sheryl Ann Edmison Eddings, sons Bruce Eddings, Jr., and Joseph Eddings, daughters Megan Eddings and Brittany Eddings, five grandchildren, his brother Bart Eddings, sisters Margaret Stoops and Flora Bennett, cousin Barbara Modoni, all respective family members, and cats Nikki and Joey.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Thilbert Eddings Sr. and Flora Parker, his brothers Thilbert Eddings, Jr. and Curtis Eddings and his cousin Judy Montulet as well as his beloved cat Taffy and dog Keelin.  His family wishes to extend a special thank you to the many people not listed who were so meaningful in his life and who have provided a wealth of love and comfort to Bruce.

A private viewing for immediate family will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2021, prior to Bruce’s cremation.  A celebration of life at a graveside ceremony with full military honors will be held in Nebraska at the end of May 2022.  Horan and McConaty at HoranCares.com is entrusted with the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to be made to the Gary Sinise Foundation at www.garysinisefoundation.org.
